Launched in 5 May 1862 by Princess Eugénie, the wife of Napoleon III, Café de la Paix opened to visitors at the 1867 World's Fair. Renovated at the beginning of the 21st century, this luxurious brasserie displays its airy vantage points and its recaptures the splendour of the Second Empire, as it was designed by the French architect Charles Garner. Garner is known for his masterpiece, the glittering Garnier Opera, located across from Café de la Paix.
The Café is air conditioned and offers an indoor and outdoor terrace, a gourmet menu, a selection of lighter fare served throughout the day, excellent service and a friendly staff. Trace the footsteps of Guy de Maupassant, Oscar Wilde, André Gide, Emile Zola, Paco Rabanne, Pierre Cardin and Jean-Paul Gauthier in this magnificent and welcoming setting.

The Café de la Paix also offers two exceptional spaces: - The prestigious Carré Opéra, a large alcove just off the main dining room across the Opera for private breakfasts, lunches and dinners; and - The table d’hôte, facing boulevard des Capucines, for business meals.
The renowned Café de la Paix! This adjective alone describes the scope of this Paris institution, a mythical name with Second Empire decor that includes classified frescos, sumptuous gilding, painted ceilings, elegant columns and superb chandeliers.
One suggestion: after a night at the Opera, continue the magic and come to the Café de la Paix.
